What to Wear to The Office: Summer Outfits Edition

The sun is out past 5pm, BBQ invites are flying, you find yourself contemplating shorts, it must be summertime! Mentally you might be at the beach but physically you’re in the office, in air conditioning that somehow makes it feel like the Arctic. Office summer looks can be hard to throw together when your closet suddenly seems overrun with sundresses. We put together a few chic summer office outfits to take the stress out of working from a cubical instead of a cabana.

Teal and Western Chic

A summertime staple is the woven tote. It practically begs to be taken to the farmers market and have an easy reading book tossed into it. This Loeffler Randall tote can pull double duty as your weekend bag and to carry everything you need during your commute to the office. Add a splash of color from a silk scarf like this vibrantly printed in Italy one from Deseda. The Becca dress in Teal keeps your spirits up in a hue that is reminiscent of ocean water. Sleeveless, this dress is going to keep you cool and comfortable on your commute while not being too bulky under the still mandatory office sweater. (Thanks A/C)

Pops of gold in the necklace, watch and keep the bright mood going while also complimenting the teal of the Becca dress. Wearing a watch isn’t just for dads anymore, they have come back around to being the finishing touch for an outfit. Selecting a classic watch like this gold banded option gives versatility and a timeless feel. Western styling is having a moment, the Jolene ankle boot from Freda Salvador is giving the western look a sophisticated glow up. Not made for the ranch but perfect for running from meeting to meeting then happy hour at the end of the day.

Barbie Goes to the Office

There are a lot of cores being thrown around lately in fashion - cottagecore, normcore, balletcore etc… Most do not translate into office summer looks. However, the hotly anticipated Barbie movie coming out this summer has inspired its own Barbiecore fashion trend. That lady has had a lot of jobs - maybe the most out of anyone - and she would definitely understand how to put together a summer professional outfit. We took a look at some of her outfits to make Barbiecore work for the corporate world.

Of course our Heather dress in pink is the perfect place to start. A soft pink sheath dress is definitely in Barbie’s closet. She isn’t afraid of color, and neither are we. A kelly green mule gives us

more of those bright summer colors and a chance to show off a fresh pedi. Maybe an old school watch isn’t for you but you do wear a smartwatch. Swapping out the band is a great way to avoid looking like you’re on your way to the gym. The Machete bands are stylish, won’t break the bank and from a woman founded company. Barbie would definitely support a woman founded company, and so do we!

A white leather tote bag like this ruched Proenza Schoulder number has an elevated summer feel and is roomy enough to hold the extra pair of flip flops, planner and water bottle. Sunglasses and a little sparkle on your finger are the perfect finishing touches to this summer office outfit, inspired by the ultimate professional woman.

Sophisticated and Confident

Maybe your office is a little more buttoned up and that means a more conservative look, even as the temperatures rise. The Yaa dress in a saturated navy has an adjustable neckline to button up or down, hits at the knee and pockets that actually hold stuff. It is a sophisticated and timeless dress suitable for any office environment. Adding a thin belt in a reddish brown with a unique buckle complements the navy of the Yaa. We just love gold accessories right now; they’re so classic. These gold hoop and pearl earrings are equally appropriate in a meeting with your CEO as they are at brunch, while this gold flower inspired ring is an

updated classic. Open toed shoes are not for everyone or every environment, a shoe like these Jimmy Choo open weave slingbacks can bring in that little bit of summer while staying in the office dress code.

Throwing your hair up in a messy bun is great for laying next to the pool but not so great when meeting with clients. A unique hair pin like this one from Soko will get your hair up so you can cool down but keep you looking polished and professional. Topping the whole look off with a bag in a fun and fresh coral color to hold your Moscot sunglasses keeps the summer vibes going until you clock out at 5pm.

Hopefully these looks inspire you to pick your favorite Wolf and Owl dress, and summery accessories to make a summer office outfit that makes you almost as happy as setting your out of office on. If you need us, check the office next door, chances are we are there, but please don’t schedule any meetings. We are too busy checking out hotels on the beach.
